The Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), has assured that South African businesses operating in Ghana remain safe and will continue to operate freely as long as they comply with the country’s laws.
His comments come amid rising tensions following the evacuation of some Ghanaians from South Africa after reports of xenophobic attacks, which have sparked public calls for retaliation in parts of Ghana.
Speaking on the matter, KOD stressed Ghana’s long-standing position as an open and welcoming destination for investment, saying: “Ghana has always been the pathway… the safest way into Africa,” adding that the country does not only promote this as a slogan but “actually means every bit of it.”
