Ghanaian youngster Ato Ampah has signed his first professional contract with Chelsea, committing his future to the Premier League club until 2025.
The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has progressed through the ranks at the Blues’ academy, having joined as a 10-year-old.
Ampah has been a regular fixture for Chelsea’s U18 side this season and has caught the eye with his impressive performances. He is eligible to represent both England and Ghana, having been born in Accra.
The youngster’s entourage was quick to reach an agreement with Chelsea’s youth management, and the club announced the news of his contract signing on Friday afternoon.
The deal runs until June 2025, and Chelsea are excited about the potential of their latest academy graduate.
Ampah scored in Chelsea U18’s 5-2 defeat to Fulham in the Premier League U18 competition on April 26th, taking his tally to two goals and five assists in 13 league games this season.
He made his U18 debut for the Blues last year, featuring in a total of five games.
Chelsea described Ampah as a very quick and dynamic attacking player who can play in a number of forward positions.
The signing of Ampah is a continuation of Chelsea’s commitment to promoting youth players through the ranks. The Blues have a rich history of producing top talent from their academy, including the likes of Mason Mount, Reece James, and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
