Dutch-Ghanaian forward Ernest Poku marked his Europa League debut for Beikta with a goal as the Turkish giants opened their European campaign with an impressive 4-1 victory over Marseille in Istanbul.Poku came off the bench in the second half and scored in the 81st minute, capping a dominant second-half display from Beikta.The forward showed his pace to get into position before calmly finishing a swift counter-attack. Junior Olaitan linked up with Dusan Vlahovic before setting up Poku inside the box, who fired home to put the result beyond doubt.The goal came after Poku had already made two league appearances for Beikta since joining the club from Bayer Leverkusen on loan for the 2026/27 season.Speaking after the game, Poku expressed his confidence in Beiktas chances of making an impact in Europe.We have faith that we’ll do good things in Europe, and we’ll show that too.The 22-year-old also revealed that head coach Vincenzo Italiano encouraged him to play his natural game and make use of his pace on the counter-attack.Our coach asked me to play like myself.
