Ghanaian international Kwame Poku has officially transferred to Queens Park Rangers (QPR), marking a new chapter in his football career. The 23-year-old attacker joins the English Championship side after spending four successful years with Peterborough United. During his time at Peterborough, Poku made a significant impact by netting 30 goals and providing 30 assists in 147 appearances across all competitions, showcasing his attacking prowess and versatility.

Poku’s return to the Championship comes with increased experience and a more refined end product. He previously played in the division during the 2019/20 season, but now, fresh from his stint at Peterborough, he arrives at QPR confident in his abilities to contribute to the team’s ambitions. In an interview with the club’s official media, he expressed enthusiasm for the project and his eagerness to help the team reach new heights.

“I feel like the project they’re building here excites me and I want to be part of taking QPR to that next level,” Poku said after completing his transfer. He also praised the quality of the squad, emphasizing that the environment at QPR is conducive to improving his attacking numbers and overall performance. His addition is seen as a strategic move by the club to bolster their attacking options and bring versatility to their frontline.

Known for his creativity, control and attacking depth, Poku is expected to add a new dimension to Marti Cifuentes’ squad. His ability to play across various attacking roles makes him a valuable asset for the team. The former Colchester United player is also recognized for his potential to deliver in key moments, which will be crucial as QPR aims for a successful campaign.

Although Poku has only one senior appearance for Ghana, earned in a friendly against Uzbekistan in March 2021, his international experience adds to his growing reputation. As he settles into his new club, expectations are his talent will help drive QPR toward achieving their goals in the Championship.
