FC St.Gallen 1879 has secured the services of Ghanaian goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi until the end of the 2026/27 season, marking a significant extension of his contract.

Ati Zigi, 27, has been an integral part of St Gallen for over four years, featuring prominently in 154 championship matches, along with notable appearances in cup competitions and Europa League qualifiers.

Transitioning from FC Sochaux to FC St.Gallen 1879 in 2020, Ati Zigi swiftly cemented his role as the team’s key goalkeeper, displaying reliability and consistency.

The club’s sporting director, Roger Stilz, expressed delight at the extension, highlighting Ati Zigi’s exceptional performance both on and off the field. Stilz emphasized Ati Zigi’s professionalism, composure, and leadership qualities as invaluable assets to the team.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to tie Lawrence to FCSG for the long term. He is a top performer and impresses not only on the pitch, but also off it with his professionalism, level-headedness and charisma. During our discussions it became clear that there was a desire for an extension on both sides. We are pleased with Lawrence’s commitment. This is a great sign for our FCSG,” he said.

Ati Zigi’s market value, as per Transfermarkt, stands at €2,000,000.
