England midfielder Jude Bellingham has acknowledged the challenges players are likely to face at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, citing the weather and pitch conditions as key factors that could influence performances during the tournament.
Speaking ahead of the global showpiece, Bellingham admitted that adapting to the conditions would be crucial for teams hoping to succeed, particularly those that rely on an intense style of play.
“We want to play that full-force, high-pressing, and high-tempo football, but with the heat, it’s going to be difficult. And then the pitches… I think we adjusted well,” the midfielder said.
His comments come as England continue preparations for the World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Three Lions are among the favourites to challenge for the title but could face varying weather conditions throughout the tournament.
Bellingham’s remarks may also resonate with Ghana, one of England’s opponents at the World Cup, as teams fine-tune their preparations and strategies to cope with the demanding environment expected during the competition.
