The Global Game Scouting Tournament is set to take place in Accra from September 25 to 26, 2026, with organisers targeting some of the country’s most promising young football talents.
The tournament, in partnership with ExcelsiorPro, will be held at the McDan Sports Complex in Labadi and will bring together 16 teams for a two-day talent identification exercise.
Players between the ages of 16 and 18 will participate in four categories — late 16, early 17, late 17 and early 18 years.
Each participating team is expected to have approximately 18 players, with the tournament providing an opportunity for them to showcase their abilities in front of international scouts, professional clubs, academies and football agencies.
According to the organisers, participating players will be assessed based on their technical ability, tactical awareness, physical attributes, attitude and overall potential.
Outstanding performers could earn recommendations for trials and other opportunities with professional clubs.
The competition will be played in a structured knockout format, with fixtures and pairings determined before the start of the tournament.
The organisers say the event is aimed at creating a credible pathway for young footballers to access professional opportunities, including trials, scholarships and contracts.
Beyond talent identification, the tournament is also expected to promote discipline, sportsmanship and player development while strengthening relationships between local and international football stakeholders.
The event will also receive media coverage through match-day video recordings, social media updates, digital platforms, sports bloggers and radio coverage, providing additional exposure for participating players and clubs.
Individual awards will be presented at the end of the tournament, including Best Player, Best Goalkeeper and Top Goal Scorer, while the champions and runners-up will also be recognised.
The organisers have also opened the tournament to partnerships with clubs, academies, football agencies, scouting organisations, sponsors and development partners interested in talent identification and football development.
They believe the initiative can help strengthen the connection between young African footballers and professional opportunities in Europe and other parts of the world.
