Charlton Athletic shot-stopper Joseph Wollacott has been declared fit by the Black Stars medical team after the 26-year-old suffered a minor injury on Tuesday evening while training with his Black Stars teammates.

Wollacott was included in Chris Hughton’s maiden Black Stars squad having missed the team’s initial assignment at the 2022 World Cup due to a finger injury in November 2022.

The former Swindon Town keeper faced the dread of being on the sidelines again when a mobile goalpost fell on him during the teams’ training session ahead of their matchup with Angola in the 2023 Afcon qualifiers.

“He was immediately assessed by the medical team and given emergency treatment. Wollacott was later reassessed in the medical room at the team hotel and currently, there are no major medical worries since the player is almost pain-free,” said the Ghana Football Association on Wednesday morning.

The team will hold further sessions at the Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday before hosting the Palancas Negras on Thursday afternoon.

Both Ghana and Angola have four points each while Madagascar and Central African Republic are also tied on points with a draw and a defeat each after their first two games.
