Augustus Goosie Tanoh, Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Manifesto Committee on Employment and Job Creation, has asserted that the poor performance of the current government will lead to the NDC’s victory in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues on Sunday, December 1, 2024, Tanoh pointed to a combination of factors—including the soaring cedi to dollar exchange rate, record-high inflation, high unemployment, and escalating national debt—as key reasons why the Akufo-Addo administration is failing to meet the expectations of Ghanaians. He argued that these economic hardships have pushed citizens to demand change.
“I think the most telling propulsion for NDC’s victory is the record of this administration in terms of its non-achievement with regards to policies that it initiated and campaigned on. Unfortunately, it has failed tremendously, and this failure will have very serious consequences for us as a people,” Tanoh stated.
He emphasized that Ghanaians are increasingly dissatisfied with their financial struggles and are ready for a shift in leadership, signaling their intent to vote for John Dramani Mahama and the NDC in 2024.
“The hardships that Ghanaians are facing at the household level are what propel people to want to have a dramatic change,” Tanoh added, expressing confidence that Mahama will prioritize job creation and provide better opportunities for the country’s youth.
