The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has assured taxpayers and businesses that its operations will continue uninterrupted despite the heavy rains that have disrupted transportation and commercial activities across Accra and parts of the country.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Authority acknowledged that the adverse weather conditions could affect the movement of goods, disrupt business operations and make it difficult for some firms to meet regulatory and customer obligations.
However, the GRA said it had activated business continuity measures to ensure the seamless delivery of Customs and Domestic Tax services across its operational network.
According to the Commissioner-General, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, the measures cover key service delivery points, including ports, border posts and Taxpayer Service Centres (TSCs), to minimise disruptions and facilitate legitimate trade.
“The objective is to keep legitimate trade moving, minimise avoidable disruptions and continue serving taxpayers as efficiently as possible,” the statement said.
The Authority encouraged businesses and taxpayers to make greater use of its digital platforms to reduce the need for physical visits to its offices during the rainy period.
It also advised businesses to plan ahead by factoring potential transportation delays into their operations while placing the safety of employees above all other considerations.
“No business activity is more important than protecting lives,” the GRA emphasised.
The assurance comes as parts of Accra continue to experience flooding and heavy traffic following sustained rainfall over the past few days, raising concerns about possible supply chain disruptions and delays in business activities.
Despite the challenges, the Authority reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining uninterrupted service delivery and ensuring efficient revenue mobilisation to support national development.
The GRA also urged the public to heed advisories issued by relevant emergency response and weather agencies as the rainy conditions persist, while wishing taxpayers a safe and productive week.
