The Ghana Real Estate Professionals Association (GREPA) has launched a nationwide outreach and advocacy initiative aimed at strengthening professional standards, promoting licensure compliance, and deepening industry engagement across Ghana’s real estate sector.
This strategic nationwide effort forms part of GREPA’s long-standing commitment (since its establishment in 2011) to formalize the real estate industry and build a transparent, ethical, and globally competitive market. The initiative is focused on engaging practitioners, developers, and stakeholders across all regions to align with evolving regulatory requirements and global best practices.
At the core of the outreach is awareness creation around the licensing requirements under the Real Estate Agency Act (Act 1047), as well as the critical role of the Real Estate Agency Council in regulating the sector. GREPA is actively encouraging all practitioners particularly those currently operating without licenses to take immediate steps toward compliance as enforcement efforts are expected to intensify.
Speaking during stakeholder engagements in the Sekondi–Takoradi Metropolis, the Founder and CEO of GREPA, Victoria Osei Sampah, emphasized the urgency of professionalization:
“As Ghana’s real estate sector continues to grow and attract both local and international investment, the need for structure, compliance, and professionalism has never been more critical.
GREPA is committed to leading this transformation by supporting practitioners to align with regulatory standards while equipping them with the tools to compete globally.”
She further underscored the importance of continuous professional development (CPD), ethical practice, and the adoption of technology to enhance efficiency, transparency, and market reach.
As part of the engagement, practitioners were encouraged to join GREPA to access structured training, certification pathways, and industry recognition through the ACME Institute of Real Estate, the Association’s accredited training arm.
ACME delivers pre-licensing education, broker development programs, CPD courses aligned with REAC requirements and specialized international programs, certifications and designations such as CIPS, CPM, CCIM, ePro, ABR, PSA and other programs through its International affiliate-National Association of REALTORS.
The outreach also highlighted the role of technology in modern real estate practice, particularly through the Loop Ghana MLS, GREPA’s digital listing platform. Loop Ghana MLS enhances property visibility, improves data transparency, and connects Ghanaian listings to both local and international markets – realtor.com providing verified listings to diaspora investors.
The GREPA delegation, which included President-Elect Emmanuel Tawiah, Presidential Adviser Rev. Dr. Nanayaa Prempeh, and Board member Atiku Iddrisu, conducted a series of high-level engagements in the Western Region.
Activities included: Media engagements and live radio discussions on Skyy Power FM and Connect FM, aimed at educating the public and practitioners on licensing compliance and the need for collaboration.
Strategic meetings with key industry figures, including Abdul-Aziz Seidu, a renowned lawyer, surveyor and Broker in the Region, Prof. Quartey Institutional engagement with the Faculty of Built and Natural Environment at Takoradi Technical University, exploring collaboration opportunities in real estate education and research.
Brokerage visits to firms such as SmartHomes Agency and Tutubah Realty Consult to interact directly with practitioners and management teams.
