Hearts of Oak have confirmed the departure of David Ocloo, who leaves after the end of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season as the former champions continue their search for a substantive replacement.

Ocloo was the third coach of the club in the Ghana Premier League last season after Samuel Boadu and Serbian trainer Slavko Matic.
Boadu who led the team to a domestic double triumph by winning the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup in the 2020/21 season again defended the FA Cup the following season which granted them another opportunity to compete in the CAF Confederations Cup.
However, a string of disappointing results at the onset of last season forced the club to fire the former Medeama SC coach. Matic was then chosen to take over and had previously begun on a positive note with the team but failed to maintain consistency as poor performances prompted fans to bar him from the club’s training fields.
Ocloo then took over but had little impact on the team as they continued their erratic season, which nearly ended in relegation. The Phobians had to wait until the last day of the season to make certain of their place in the Ghana Premier League.
Despite a late scare, the former Asante Kotoko assistant coach led the team to the 12th position.
Ocloo will no longer be in control of the Hearts of Oak as they continue the hunt for a new coach ahead of the upcoming season.
They were initially linked to Annor Walker, but the veteran coach chose to rejoin city rivals Great Olympics, who have already begun pre-season training.
