
Herve Renard has become one of the high-profile coaches available on the market following Carlos Queiroz’s departure as Black Stars head coach after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.Queiroz confirmed his exit after Ghana’s Round of 32 elimination, bringing an end to his four-month spell in charge of the national team and leaving the Ghana Football Association searching for a new coach ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.Renard is currently without a job after stepping down as Tunisia head coach following the Eagles of Carthage’s group-stage exit at the World Cup.”My adventure with Tunisia has come to an end,” the Frenchman wrote on Instagram.”Before I leave, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Tunisian Football Federation for allowing me to take part in the 2026 World Cup. It was an honour to represent Tunisia and to have this unforgettable experience.”The 57-year-old was appointed by Tunisia midway through the tournament after Sabri Lamouchi was dismissed following a heavy defeat to Sweden. Renard oversaw Tunisia’s final two group matches, suffering defeats to Japan and the Netherlands as the North Africans exited the competition.After Tunisia’s elimination, Renard indicated that his appointment had been solely for the World Cup, saying he had come “for this World Cup” without confirming any plans to remain in charge beyond the tournament.Renard has been linked with the Black Stars job on several occasions in recent years and is now available after ending his short spell with Tunisia.A two-time Africa Cup of Nations winner, Renard guided Zambia to the continental title in 2012 before repeating the feat with Ivory Coast in 2015. He has also coached Morocco and Saudi Arabia, building a reputation as one of Africa’s most accomplished international managers.With Queiroz’s departure confirmed, the Ghana Football Association is expected to begin the process of appointing a new head coach in the coming weeks.
