Human Rights Advocate and Executive Director of the Purim African Youth Development Platform, Rev. Hornam Adzraku-Kevi, has criticised comments made by Ahafo Ano South East MP Yakubu Mohammed to a minor during a visit to , describing them as inappropriate and harmful.

A video circulating on shows the MP complimenting the girl’s appearance and saying he would marry her in the future, a remark that has sparked public debate.

Speaking to Citi News, Rev. Adzraku-Kevi said such comments reinforce harmful stereotypes about women and girls by focusing on their appearance instead of their abilities and potential.

She urged public officials and leaders to promote messages that encourage girls to pursue , leadership and career opportunities while treating them with dignity and respect.

Rev. Adzraku-Kevi stressed that empowering women and girls requires challenging stereotypes and creating an environment where they can fully participate in leadership and decision-making.
