The 2011 African Games Ghana U23 coach, James Kwasi Appiah, has passed a vote of confidence in the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 13th African Games.

Appiah, 62, led Ghana to win a gold medal in the football event at the 10th edition in Mozambique in 2011.

Ghana’s capital, Accra, will host the 13th edition of the African Games in March 2024, and the soft-spoken coach who was Ghana’s head coach during the 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign believes the LOC led by Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare are making the necessary arrangement to host the rest of Africa.

“As for managing all the African countries who are coming I don’t know much but I believe the organizers [LOC] must have been putting things together to accommodate all those who are coming to Ghana – their places of lodging as well as their feeding and all those stuff. I think they are putting all those things in place,” he told Accra2023ag.com.

Appiah recounted the challenges he faced together with his players in Maputo en route to winning the ultimate.

“In actual fact, I cannot say the organization was the best. I quite remember we always had to travel out from our base to play games. And, we had to sleep over at an open place and everybody had to put his mattress on the ground. Most of the time you face situations but is up to you the coach to psyche the mindset of your players to help take their minds off where they are sleeping to focus their minds on the game,” he added.
