The grieving mother of 15-year-old Javits Frimpong, Madam Doris Adu Gyamfi, has travelled from Ghana to the United States to bid her son a final farewell following his tragic death in the Bronx, New York.
Javits reportedly lost his life following an alleged attack involving three unidentified teenagers, leaving his family devastated by the painful loss.
Madam Doris, who had raised her son with love and hopes of giving him a bright future, is now faced with the heartbreaking reality of travelling thousands of miles not to celebrate his achievements but to attend his funeral.
According to reports, she was granted an expedited US visa following interventions involving Kwame Mamdani. Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also said to have assisted with the visa arrangements and flight tickets to facilitate her journey.
Accompanied by her niece, the grieving mother departed Accra for the United States, carrying the pain of losing a son whose future she had hoped would be filled with remarkable achievements.
Speaking before her departure at the airport, Madam Doris made an emotional appeal for justice for her son, revealing that her greatest dream was to see him become a medical doctor.
“I want justice for my son. All I wanted was for him to become a doctor,” she said.
Her heartbreaking statement has further highlighted the pain of a mother whose dreams for her child have been cut short by tragedy.
For Madam Doris, what should have been years of celebrating her son’s growth, education and accomplishments has instead become a painful journey to say her final goodbye.
As the family mourns the young boy’s death, calls for justice continue, with hopes that those responsible for the alleged attack will be identified and held accountable.
