
Ibrahim TankoThe head coach of Medeama Sporting Club, Ibrahim Tanko, has rallied his players to focus on domestic success after their elimination from the CAF Champions League. The Ghanaian champions represented the country in the CAF inter-club competition but, unfortunately, fell to Congolese giants TP Mazembe in the first preliminary round.With the team now set to begin their campaign in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season this weekend, Ibrahim Tanko has stressed that his team must do everything to challenge for the league title and the MTN FA Cup.Unfortunately, as I said, we are out of the Champions League, so definitely we have the Premier League and the MTN FA Cup. We have to concentrate 100% to get our results, Tanko told Medi TV.Having had a lengthy pre-season, the coach is confident his team will succeed in the domestic league.We have been together for almost a month or two months now. I mean, everything is going well. I think the Premier League is a different tournament, or it’s a different league together. So definitely, we are preparing like any other games. I mean, we have been through last season. We saw how every venue is difficult to play in, but I think we are doing everything possible so that we will have our results, Tanko added.Medeama SC will begin the new league season with an away trip to Tema on Friday, September 19.The team will lock horns with Vision FC at Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in a game scheduled to kick off at 3 pm.
