Iñaki Williams has admitted he is enduring a difficult season following Athletic Bilbao’s 2-1 defeat to Villarreal at San Mamés.
The 31-year-old Black Stars forward, who captains Athletic Bilbao, has struggled to replicate last season’s impressive form, when he recorded 11 goals and nine assists across all competitions. Injuries have disrupted his rhythm this campaign, limiting his impact in front of goal.
Williams has made 32 appearances this season but managed just three goals and four assists, a notable dip for a player widely regarded as one of the most consistent performers in Spanish football.
Speaking after the Villarreal defeat, the experienced attacker expressed frustration at his current form, admitting he is not at his best.
“Honestly, I’m not feeling well. I’m trying to be the Iñaki that everyone knows,” he said.
Despite the challenges, Williams remains determined to rediscover his top level before the end of the campaign. His return to form could prove vital for Athletic Bilbao as they look to regain consistency and finish the season strongly.
