Former Ghanaian hiplife artiste turned gospel minister, Yaw Siki, has opened up about the strict values guiding his home, particularly regarding the type of content his children are exposed to.

Speaking in an interview with Doreen Avio and Kwame Dadzie on Hitz FM,  Yaw explained that it is highly unlikely for his children to listen to or dance to his old secular songs.

When asked how he would feel if such a situation occurred, where he returns home to meet his children dancing and singing his old songs, he maintained that it simply would not happen in his household.

“I know this is a question but it’s not possible. In my home, it will not happen. It cannot happen, because my home, we don’t play secular music.” he stated.

According to him, this decision is intentional and influenced by his past experiences before becoming a minister. He believes the kind of content people consume can have a strong impact on their lives, using himself as an example.

Yaw Siki further revealed that he actively controls what is played at home, ensuring everything aligns with his beliefs and values. From television to radio, gospel content remains the focus.

“I got corrupted through what I listened to and what I watched. So based on my experience, I’m raising my children based on that experience. So what we watch at home, the channels, the radio, I control it.

“I’m in control of my TV. When we turn it on, it’s gospel. The same applies to radio, my wife listens, but it’s always tuned to gospel stations,” he said.

While he acknowledged that not all content is harmful, he noted that it is difficult to monitor everything children are exposed to. Because of that, he prefers to limit access and stick to strictly gospel platforms.

“Some content may be clean, but some can be corrupt or misleading. We can’t sit and scan every channel, so it’s better to stick to platforms that are strictly gospel,” he added.
