Board chairman of Medeama SC has expressed his belief in the team’s chances of winning the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League indicating that the right time has finally arrived after losing it to nature in the past.
The Yellow and Mauves are currently a step away from clinching the title as they sit three points clear of Bechem United who are second with just one round of matches to end the season.
In 2018, the league did not get to its conclusion after the Number 12 Exposé shook the foundations of Ghana Football. Again, when the league resumed, the global pandemic COVID-19 stopped most contact sports in the world which equally affected the Ghana Premier League.
According to Dr Aubynn, the club would have been crowned champions at the end of those seasons if the competition was not truncated given their position in the league before it was halted.
“We are confident of winning the league, we think that we have been hard done by nature you remember that during the normalisation period, we were in a comfortable lead and then the league was truncated,” he told Graphic Sports
“Then before COVID-19, we were also in the lead when government postponed the league and we think we have not been fairly treated by nature so it’s our time to win”, Dr Aubynn said.
Medeama will wrap up their season with a clash against Tamale City at the Akoon Park in a match that could possibly hand them the Ghana Premier League.
