Former President John Dramani Mahama promised a major renovation of the Tema Oil Refinery, which would improve TOR’s ability to process crude oil again if re-elected in 2024.
In the latest news today, John Mahama said that the company has declined significantly since Nana Addo became president.
Speaking to party delegates at Ashiaman as part of his Greater Accra regional tour, he pledged to restore the Tema Oil Refinery to its former greatness.
“Since we (NDC) left office, TOR has never processed crude oil again. I remember before we left office, we sent to TOR the first batch of Ghanaian crude oil from our oil fields for TOR to process. That oil sat there for several years, eventually, they discounted the oil and sold it out without processing it. I can assure you, when NDC comes back, TOR will stand on its feet again”.
To end his campaign in the Greater Accra region, Mr. Mahama visited the final 34 constituencies, where he met with voters and party leaders.
Brief History Of John Dramani Mahama
Mahama has experience in the fields of communication, history, and writing. He was the Member of Parliament for Bole Bamboi for the NDC from 1997 to 2009, and he was also the Deputy Minister for Communication from 1997 to 1998 and the Minister for Communications from 1998 until 2009.
The death of John Evans Atta Mills made Dramani the first vice president to become president. He was elected President full-time after the election in December 2012. In 2016, he ran for re-election but was defeated by Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party. This made him the first president in Ghana’s history to be defeated for a second term.
