Ghana international Mohammed Kudus has expressed his appreciation for his time with Danish club Nordsjælland, highlighting the pivotal role the club played in his development.

The midfielder shared this sentiment in his first interview after completing a five-year transfer to West Ham from Dutch giants Ajax.

Nordsjælland marked Kudus’ first European venture, following his departure from Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy. The club served as a crucial stepping stone for Kudus, enabling him to acclimate to the European football landscape. His impressive performances there caught the attention of Ajax, ultimately leading to his move in 2020.

Kudus excelled at Ajax, where he scored 27 goals and left an indelible mark, including a hat-trick in his final game. This outstanding display paved the way for his next chapter at West Ham.

Speaking about his Nordsjælland experience, Kudus emphasised the significance of taking gradual steps: “Yeah, I think for me, a player from Africa, I think it was a good step for me because I didn’t want to take big steps because I think I needed time to learn a lot of stuff because it’s a whole different culture in Europe, compared to Africa, so it was a good step and learning experience for me. I was there for two seasons, and then boom, to Ajax!”

Kudus could make his West Ham debut on Friday against Luton Town.
