Former Western North Regional Minister, Joojo Rocky Obeng, is expected to serve as one of the sureties for the GH¢50 million bail imposed on New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team member Dennis Miracles Aboagye by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
According to information available to The1957News, Mr Obeng is putting himself up as one of the three sureties required by EOCO as part of the bail conditions imposed on Mr Aboagye.
The former Regional Minister is expected to visit EOCO’s head office to complete the necessary processes required to fulfill his obligations as a surety and help secure Mr Aboagye’s release.
EOCO granted Mr Aboagye bail after he was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport on Sunday, July 12, 2026, when he arrived in the country from abroad.
The bail condition requires three sureties, two of whom are to be justified.
A surety justification process requires individuals standing as guarantors to provide evidence of their capacity to meet the requirements set by the investigating authority.
In a statement, EOCO said the arrest formed part of investigations into alleged financial offences relating to his tenure as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).
The amount involved, according to EOCO, is around GH¢55 million.
Meanwhile, the NPP has described the arrest of Miracles Aboagye and the bail imposed on him as a weaponisation of state institutions by the ruling National Democratic Congress government.
