Kenyan powerhouse Gor Mahia are reportedly closing in on the signing of talented Ghanaian midfielder Ebenezer Ocran as they intensify preparations for the 2026-27 season.
Multiple reports indicate that the record Kenyan champions, led by former Ghana coach Charles Akonnor, have identified the versatile midfielder as a key target to strengthen their squad ahead of their CAF Champions League qualifying campaign.
Ocran, who previously featured for FC Samartex, is understood to be in advanced negotiations with the Nairobi-based giants, with discussions progressing positively over a potential move. His versatility and experience have made him an attractive option for Akonnor, who is keen to add depth and quality to his midfield.
Should the transfer be finalized, Ocran will join a growing Ghanaian contingent at Gor Mahia, linking up with compatriots George Amonoo, Ebenezer Adukwa, Ebenezer Assifuah, and Emmanuel Kotei.
The Kenyan powerhouse is currently in Rwanda for a pre-season training camp as preparations gather pace for a demanding campaign. Gor Mahia suffered a 2-0 defeat to Rayon Sports in their opening friendly, but the result is viewed as part of the team’s build-up rather than a major setback.
Attention will now shift to the CECAFA Kagame Cup, where K’Ogalo begin their campaign on July 24. Gor Mahia face a stern challenge after being drawn in a competitive Group A alongside Rwandan champions APR FC, Somali side Dekedaha, and Djibouti’s Garde Rpublicaine.
