Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has expressed satisfaction with his side’s preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), describing the team’s start to camp as encouraging.

Speaking ahead of the continental tournament, the Swedish tactician said the players have responded positively since assembling, with training sessions progressing according to plan.

“It has been a really good start,” Björkegren said as the Black Queens continue fine-tuning their preparations for the competition.

The coach remains focused on ensuring the squad reaches peak condition before Ghana’s opening match, with attention centred on improving fitness, tactical organisation and team cohesion.

The Black Queens have been engaged in an intensive training programme and a series of international friendly matches as part of their build-up to WAFCON 2026.

Björkegren will be hoping his side carries its positive momentum into the tournament as Ghana targets a strong campaign and a return to the latter stages of Africa’s premier women’s football competition.
