King Faisal FC have seen their appeal against Tamale City during their 30th league match in the recently ended Ghana Premier League dismissed by the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

This announcement affirms the relegation status of the Inshah Allah Boys who were hoping to earn a lifeline from the case.

Tamale City were accused of fielding an unqualified player in the person of Isaac Mensah in the match at the Tamale Sports Stadium, where King Faisal were defeated 4-1.

According to their complaint, Mensah was registered with another name Kojo Nissi making him ineligible to compete in the Ghana Premier League.

However, after a thorough investigation, the Appeals Committee has ruled that the player was eligible, affirming the initial decision of the Disciplinary Committee.

“The Appeals Committee has also dismissed King Faisal FC’s appeal against the Disciplinary Committee decision in their protest case against Tamale City FC.

“Affirming the Disciplinary Committee’s decision, the Appeals Committee charged the GFA Prosecutor to investigate the registration of player Jireh Kojo Nissi and prosecute all guilty parties.

“The Appeals Committee also ruled that the 2021/22 Division One League season registration of Jireh Kojo Nissi should be expunged from the records of the GFA since it was later in time to the registration of Isaac Mensah,” part of an official statement read.

King Faisal aimed to win three points from the case but saw their initial protest dismissed by the Disciplinary Committee.

However, they hoped to see the decision overturned through their appeal which has unfortunately been overruled by the Appeals Committee.

The Insha Allah boys must now prepare to compete in the Division One League next season.

Tamale City on the other hand returned to the second tier after losing to eventual champions Medeama SC.
