Asante Kotoko head coach Seydou Zerbo claims referee Amadu Ibrahim was threatened during half-time in the MTN FA Cup round of 16 fixture at the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park in Dormaa Ahenkro on Sunday.

Aduana Stars claimed a 1-0 victory over the Porcupine Warriors after Sam Adams scored a 59th-minute penalty to hand victory to the Ogya lads before home fans.

Referee Amadu awarded a penalty to Paa Kwesi Fabin’s side after attacker Isaac Mintah was fouled inside the Kotoko box by Mohammed Alhassan.

Zerbo complained bitterly at the final whistle and questioned Aduana Stars’ performance in the game.

“I’m not a person that talks about officiating but the way they threatened the referee at halftime, that’s why he changed his mind,” he said in the post-match interview.

It is yet to be established whether the referee stated in his official report to the competition’s regulatory body about any physical attack on him from Aduana Stars.

Meanwhile, full-time scenes at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park saw some players of Kotoko rushing on the match officials.

The Porcupine Warriors are 7 points behind Aduana Stars in the race for the league title.
