Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum, has expressed his satisfaction with the team’s preparations ahead of the highly anticipated super clash against Hearts of Oak on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.
Despite the team’s slump in recent matches, where they have managed only one victory in their last six league fixtures, Ogum believes his men are mentally, tactically, and physically prepared for the crucial encounter against their arch-rivals.
“I think the mentality at training with the boys, technical staff, and everybody is very positive. We are very poised. Tactically, we are approaching the game based on how we have seen them play, especially in their away games. So what I want to tell you is we are very hopeful as a technical staff, as a playing body. The players are prepared physically, tactically, psychologically, they are prepared for the game on Sunday ” he told 3Sports.
Despite Kotoko defeating Hearts of Oak home and away last season and also overcoming them in pre-season to claim the inaugural Democracy Cup, Ogum believes matches between Kotoko and Hearts of Oak can be unpredictable.
“If you look at games between Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, normally the dynamics are different.”
Hearts of Oak are unbeaten in their last four league games boasting of three wins and one draw while Kotoko on the other hand has just a win in their last four league outings with an undesirable record of three defeats and one win.
Hearts of Oak will also be seeking to secure their first victory against Kotoko at the third time of asking, aiming to alter the narrative that has seen them manage only one win in their last six encounters against their rivals, with a record of three defeats, two draws, and a solitary win.
