Leicester City and Sporting Lisbon have finally come to terms with finalising the permanent transfer of Ghanaian winger Fatawu Issahaku from Lisbon to Leicester after an impeccable season with the Foxes in the championship.
Leicester City has already made it clear that they want the buy option clause, which is €17 million, triggered as soon as possible following the immense performance showcased by the young winger, who played the 2023/2024 season as a loan player from his parent club Sporting Lisbon. Steadfast FC, which is Fatawu’s childhood team, will also benefit from this deal.
The 20-year-old was instrumental in Leicester City’s Premier League promotion run, scoring seven goals and providing 13 assists, babbling his name on the lips of the Leicester City fans as they composed a fan favourite song for him at the King Power Stadium.
Fatawu’s performance with the Foxes has got his parent club head coach Ruben Amorim talking about how incredible of a talent he is, emphasising the transfer of the Ghanaian to Leicester City in the coming weeks.
“We will make money. Talented players, including Fatawu Issahaku, who don’t adapt here will move to other clubs and give us added value; it’s our system,” said Ruben Amorim.
With Premier League football inching ever closer for Fatawu Issahaku in a few months to come, the talented winger will be embracing himself for the challenge ahead with a more determined mindset.
