Lieutenant Colonel J. Ankuyi has been inducted into office as the Commanding Officer of the 6 Infantry Battalion at the Kamina Barracks in Tamale in the Northern Region. The induction took place during an inter-denominational service held at the Church of Pentecost at Kamina Barracks.

In his remarks after being inducted, Lt. Col. J. Ankuyi expressed his appreciation to the entire unit for the high level of professionalism and cooperation shown him since his appointment as Commander Rear to the unit after the former Commanding Officer, Colonel B. Boamah, embarked on a peacekeeping mission.

Lt. Col. J. Ankuyi thanked the Military High Command for the opportunity and reaffirmed his commitment to discharging his duties diligently.

The General Officer Commanding the Northern Command, Brigadier General M. Essien, who was also the Guest of Honour, stressed in his address the patriotic mandate of the Ghana Armed Forces.
He acknowledged the threat facing the Sahel and its rippling effects while encouraging troops to continue to support other security services in fighting violent extremism and terrorism.
 
The Dignitaries present included the Northern Regional Minister Alhassan S. Shaibu, Airforce Base Commander Tamale Air Commodore J Mensah-Larkai and Director Airforce Base Religious Affairs Dr Col BG Kumi-Woode.
