Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on African governments to double job creation to keep up with the growing youth bulge, which is a ticking time bomb.

He said Africa has the largest educated young population who are eager to acquire new skills to enter the world of work.

Twelve million young Africans enter the labour market every year but only three or four million jobs are created annually in Africa.

Speaking at the Korea-Africa Business Summit in Seoul, former President Mahama said the youth must see a much brighter future ahead.

He said Korea can help nudge Africa’s young innovators and entrepreneurs to realize their dreams and extricate themselves from the unemployment trap.

The Korea-Africa Business Summit seeks to foster closer business and development ties between the people of Korea and Africa.

Former President Mahama said there are opportunities in Ghana, especially in the financial technology sector that Korea business community can explore for their mutual benefit.

Former President Mahama said Ghana and for that matter Africa are still rich in natural resources worth exploring for their benefit.

The Korea-Africa Business Summit will create a platform to focus and prioritize the necessary steps needed for a fast-track collaborative partnership for optimal benefit.
