President John Dramani Mahama has announced his first major ministerial reshuffle in his second term, nominating Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament (MP) for Klottey Korle, as Environment, Science and Technology Minister-Designate.
While Mr Mahama Ayariga, MP for Bawku Central and Majority Leader in Parliament, has been nominated as the Minister-Designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
A statement issued by Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State in-charge of Government Communications, said President Mahama had, in accordance with Article 78(1), submitted the names of the nominees to Parliament, through the Speaker, for prior approval as Ministers of State.
It said the President had reassigned Mr Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources to the Ministry of Defence.

Whereas Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, had been reassigned by the President from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
It would be recalled that the helicopter tragedy of August 6, 2025, led to the deaths of Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, then Defence Minister and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, then Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, together with six other eminent Ghanaians at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region while on a national assignment.
The President yesterday, August 6, 2026, led the nation to observe the first anniversary of their passing.
