A shocking and controversial story from Uganda has sparked widespread reactions online after reports emerged that a man allegedly proposed marriage to a 19-year-old woman he raised as his daughter after discovering through a DNA test that they were not biologically related.
According to reports from Bukedea District, the man decided to conduct a DNA test after spending nearly two decades believing the young woman was his biological child.
The results reportedly confirmed that he was not her biological father.
Following the outcome of the test, the man is said to have stopped supporting the young woman’s education financially.
However, the situation took an unexpected turn when he allegedly proposed marriage to her, arguing that the absence of a biological relationship meant they were no longer related by blood.
According to the reports, the young woman accepted the proposal, and preparations are allegedly underway for the two to marry.
The development has generated intense debate on social media, with many users expressing shock and disbelief over the reported relationship.
The incident comes amid increasing interest in paternity testing in Uganda and other parts of Africa, with more men reportedly seeking DNA tests to confirm biological relationships with children they have raised.
Observers say the growing trend has led to emotional family disputes, broken relationships, and public conversations surrounding trust, parenting, and family dynamics.
