Manchester United have reached an agreement with Inter Milan to sign goalkeeper Andre Onana for a reported fee of £47.2m (55m euros).

The deal will see United pay £43.8m upfront, with an additional £3.4m in add-ons.

The 27-year-old Cameroon international is expected to join United on their upcoming tour of the United States, pending the arrangement of a visa.

Manager Erik ten Hag, who previously worked with Onana at Ajax, pursued the goalkeeper as part of his plans for the new season.

Onana is set to sign a five-year contract with the option for a sixth year, solidifying his commitment to the club.

Ten Hag believes that Onana will make a significant addition to United’s squad, prompting the manager’s pursuit of a new goalkeeper and resulting in David de Gea rejecting a contract extension offer.
