A distressed mother has appealed to traditional authorities to intervene in a family dispute after allegedly discovering that her married daughter has abandoned her matrimonial home and moved in with another man identified as her Rastafarian boyfriend.
The emotional mother, who recently appeared on Oyerepa TV, claimed that her daughter, a legally married woman with children, had left her husband and relocated to live with the new man.
According to the mother, the situation has become increasingly troubling as the family struggles to persuade the woman to reconsider her decision and return to her husband and children.
She alleged that several family members had made repeated attempts to reach the daughter through phone calls to advise her, but she had consistently refused to answer.
The mother further claimed that her daughter insists she is now in love with the new man and sees no reason why her family should interfere in her relationship
In a statement reportedly made by the daughter, she questioned why her family was disturbing her over her decision, saying:
“They didn’t marry me inside an aeroplane, so why are they disturbing me?”Meanwhile, the woman’s husband is reportedly willing to accept her back into their matrimonial home despite the circumstances surrounding her departure.
However, the mother claims her daughter has refused to return. In an emotional appeal, the mother urged her daughter to seek a proper divorce if she no longer wished to remain married rather than leaving the marriage in the manner she allegedly had.”If you want a divorce, do it properly.
Let us return his drinks so you can have your peace. Don’t do things this way and bring a curse upon the family,” she reportedly pleaded.
The mother also raised concerns about an alleged blood covenant between her daughter and the Rastafarian boyfriend, although the claim has not been independently verified.Seeking a traditional solution to the matter, Aunty Naa is now appealing to the Queen Mother and other traditional authorities in the town where her daughter is reportedly staying to intervene.
She hopes the traditional leaders will help resolve the family dispute and encourage her daughter to reconsider her decision and return to her matrimonial home.
