Nations FC have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup after defeating Dreams FC 5-4 on penalties in a thrilling final at the University of Ghana Stadium to secure their place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

The contest produced plenty of drama as Nations FC took the lead in the 31st minute through Joseph Effah, who rose highest to head home from close range and give his side the advantage.

Dreams FC responded just before the break when Abdul Razak Salifu found the back of the net on the stroke of half-time to restore parity. The goal was particularly significant for Salifu, who moved to the top of the MTN FA Cup scoring chart with six goals, putting himself in pole position for the Golden Boot award.

Despite both teams pushing for a winner in the second half and extra time, neither side could find the decisive goal, forcing the final to be settled through a penalty shootout.

The Sky Blues held their nerve from 12 yards, converting five spot-kicks to edge Dreams FC 5-4 and lift the final piece of domestic silverware available this season.

The triumph marks a historic achievement for Nations FC and earns them the right to represent Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup next season, while Dreams FC will be left to reflect on a painful defeat after coming so close to another major trophy.
