Assistant coach of Accra Hearts of Oak Abdul Bashiru has raised accusations against the referee who officiated the game between Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC, calling for an investigation by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Accra Hearts of Oak suffered their third consecutive defeat in the Ghana Premier League against Medeama SC on Wednesday. The club, which had enjoyed a promising start under newly appointed coach Aboubakar Ouatarra, has now only managed to secure five points out of a possible eighteen in recent matches.

Bashiru expressed his dissatisfaction with the referee’s conduct during the game and made allegations regarding the involvement of a bankroller from the Medeama team. According to Bashiru, the bankroller made advances towards the referees and even entered the referee’s dressing room at halftime, causing chaos.

“There is something that I want to say, what happened after the first half, the GFA must have a look at it. How can a bankroller after the first half go inside the referee’s dressing room?”, He quizzed after the game.

Bashiru further accused the referee of favouring Medeama, stating, “Come and see the intimidation they caused, it’s not fair.” He highlighted a perceived change in the referee’s behaviour in the second half of the game.

While acknowledging Medeama’s superiority on the day, Bashiru asserted that the referee played a role in their defeat. “The second half, Medeama were of course the better side, but what happened on our side too…compare his first half performance against his second half performance,” he remarked.

Hearts of Oak now turn their attention to Karela United, a team they are yet to defeat at home in the league.
