Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his satisfaction with having top players battling for the same position including midfield trio, Declan Rice, Thomas Partey, and Jorghinho.
Jorgingho joined the Gunners in January from Chelsea before the North London side brought in Declan Rice from West Ham for a club-record fee.
Concerns over the future of Partey at Arsenal were heightened by the arrival of the duo, as various press stories suggested that he would be leaving for a new club, possibly one from Saudi Arabia or Italy.
However, the Black Stars midfielder appears certain to stay at Arsenal after playing a big role in both their win over Manchester City in the Community Shield and their 2023/24 Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest.
According to Arteta, having Partey, alongside Rice and even Jorginho battling for slots in the first team ‘is not a problem.’
“To have two excellent goalkeepers is great. Nothing is wrong. We have two great left-wingers, two great strikers, and three great holding midfielders with Jorginho, Thomas, and Declan. That is not a problem and it should not be a problem,” he said.
“We want to be better and to be better the environment has to change. We tend to always be at a certain level because it is in our nature. When you change the environment to one that you have to be 100% percent every day the level is going to increase. I have seen that up close with my own eyes with the players we have now and what we had two years ago. But we have to create that environment.” he added.
Arsenal are preparing for their next Premier League game against Crystal Palace on Monday night at Selhurst Park.
