Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Benito Owusu Bio has in a statement in Parliament to commemorate International Forest Day applauded Ghanaians for embracing the Green Ghana Day and ensuring the gradual restoration of lost flora and fauna.

He said the role played by trees and forest covers cannot be downplayed. He said this year’s focus is on the impact forests have on the health of people.

Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annor Dompreh, said Parliament will do its best to churn out legislations that safeguard the proper management of forest products.

MP for Tamale North, Sayibu Suhuyini Alhassan called on government to rescind its decision to declassify the Achimota forest.
