Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s aide, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has called on Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo to consider resigning from her position over her recent controversial public remarks.
Speaking on Breakfast Daily on Wednesday, May 6, Miracles Aboagye said that although the minister may have made some contributions during her tenure, it was time for her to “give way for others” who could bring a more unifying approach to the role.
He emphasised that public office requires a high level of discipline in communication and warned against what he described as extreme media exposure and reckless public statements.
“But if you choose to go the path on which she is doing, where she’s camera happy, she always wants to be in front of the camera, and she’s always making very loose talks all the time, it is not helpful,” he added.
Miracles Aboagye argued that in situations where public comments spark widespread criticism, merely apologising is not enough. He pointed out that leadership in public service must go beyond expressions of regret and reflect a deeper sense of accountability.
The minister had apologised following public backlash over comments suggesting that postings to northern Ghana could be used as a form of punishment.
