Madam Gladys Akyere Rockson, the CEO of Miss Health Ghana, has congratulated Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, on her election as Commonwealth General Secretary.

The former Member of Parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom made history during the 27th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Apia, Samoa, last week.

Madam Botchwey became the first African woman and second African national to hold this position, succeeding Baroness Patricia from the United Kingdom.

In an interview, Madam Akyere Rockson, CEO of Miss Health Ghana, the leading health pageant, stated that Madam Botchwey’s achievement would serve as an encouragement to other women.

“On behalf of the Miss Health Ghana team, I’d like to congratulate Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey on her outstanding success at the Commonwealth level.

“Her rise to this prestigious position would serve as an inspiration for many Ghanaian women as they aspire to achieve great things in life,” according to her statement.

Madam Akyere Rockson added that Ayorkor Botchwey is a victory for all Ghanaian women and rallied support for her to be successful with her new position.

“We at Miss Health Ghana will support her endeavours, and we urge all Ghanaians to support her mission at Commonwealth, and hopefully she will impact the lives of many,” she said.

In other developments, the annual Miss Health Ghana pageant will be staged on November 17, 2024, with a new queen set to be crowned
