German-born Ghanaian attacker Moritz-Broni Kwarteng is steadily progressing towards full fitness following his long-term knee injury.
The 26-year-old Bochum midfielder, who suffered a partial tear of the medial ligament, has resumed full team training but is not expected to feature in competitive matches until early to mid-September, according to coach Peter Zeidler.
Kwarteng’s injury kept him sidelined for most of the second half of the season. However, his increased workload in recent training sessions suggests he is nearing a return, providing a much-needed boost to Bochum’s attacking options.
In preparation for the upcoming season, Bochum recently participated in a blitz tournament against Italian sides FC Südtirol and FC Bologna. Despite an initial 2-0 loss to Südtirol, the team bounced back with a convincing 4-0 victory over Bologna.
Kwarteng’s impending return is expected to further bolster the team’s performance in the coming weeks.
Bochum will play Jahn Regensburg in the DFB Pokal on August 18th.
