MTN Ghana Foundation unveiled its Skills Academy initiative during the National Youth Mentorship Summit 2025 finale at the University of Ghana Business School on July 23.
The telecom group’s corporate social investment arm hosted approximately 800 students and young professionals for digital skills training and leadership development sessions.
Senior Corporate Communications Manager Georgina Asare Fiagbenu emphasized MTN’s commitment to equipping youth with future-ready capabilities. “The youth are not just the future—they are the now,” she stated, urging attendees to embrace challenges through her STRETCH-themed presentation. The summit featured workshops on entrepreneurship and digital literacy across four universities since June 21.
A focal point was the MTN Skills Academy, offering free certifications in data analytics, cybersecurity, and career development. Education Portfolio Advisor Ebenezer Terkpeh confirmed the academy aims to train over 10,000 Ghanaian youth. “We’ve transitioned from telecom to technology company,” he noted, highlighting MTN’s workforce development strategy through partnerships with global universities.
Summit convener Albert Prempeh Kusi praised MTN’s consistent investment in national mentorship programs. The foundation has executed 178 projects since 2007 across health, education, and economic empowerment sectors.
