The Palestinian Community in Ghana have made an emotional plea to Israelis to cease the attacks in what they describe as ‘’war crimes against Palestine’’.

Briefing Journalists at the Embassy of Palestine in Accra, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Ghana, Abdulfatah A. K Alsattari gave context to the conflict and said the surprise attacks on October 8, 2023 represents renewed attacks on his people, calling the act a human rights violation.

The latest UN report indicates that the number of people killed in Gaza has reached 5,087.

According to the reports, this is amid intensifying Israeli airstrikes in response to Hamas attacks, with humanitarians repeating urgent calls for a ceasefire and more aid convoys.

Ambassador Alsattari was particularly concerned about the toll of the conflict on women and children.

‘’Israelis continue to kill my people, every day, every morning, women, children, why’’, he questions and wonders why hospitals and places of worship are being attacked.

A UN Report says women and children have made up more than 62 per cent of the more than 5000 fatalities, while more than 15,273 people have been injured.

Ambassador Alsattari was grateful to President Akufo Addo and the people of Ghana for supporting Palestine.

‘’Ghana has done a lot and supported us at the UN Human Rights Council’’, he noted.

Ambassador Alsattari also took notice of the global solidarity by way of protest in support of the people of Palestine and said ‘’this means the World has heard our plea for peace, Palestine wants peace’’, he asserts.

Reports have it that the Israeli bombardment was triggered by an Oct. 7, 2023 cross-border assault on Israeli communities by Hamas militants who killed 1,400 people and took more than 200 hostage, in what is seen as the bloodiest episode in a single day since the state of Israel was founded some 75 years ago.
