Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen has expressed the team’s determination to clinch victory in the AFCON 2023 following a light-hearted remark from injured striker Victor Boniface, who humorously suggested the provision of prostitutes for the players upon reaching the tournament final on Wednesday night.
Osimhen emphasized the Super Eagles’ commitment to steering clear of distractions, including the suggestion of indulging in such activities, as they remain focused ahead of their crucial clash against hosts Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday.
During a video call with Boniface, who had quipped, “Make them give Pere Nwa two Oloshos each for this night, una deserve am,” Osimhen responded, “Thunder go fire you. We stay focused until we win, you hear wetin I dey talk. No Olosho [prostitute] yet we stay focused until we win, hope you are walking alone now. Have you started walking alone?”
The Super Eagles secured their spot in the final after defeating South Africa in a thrilling penalty shootout, with Osimhen’s side prevailing 4-2 after a 1-1 draw in regular time.
With their eyes set on victory, Nigeria aims to match their arch-rivals’ record of four AFCON trophies as they prepare to face Ivory Coast in the upcoming final showdown.
Boniface was part of the squad but was forced to withdraw after sustaining a serious injury.
