Nollywood is mourning the loss of actress Temitope Osoba, who has died after a prolonged battle with cancer, nearly two years after undergoing surgery related to the disease.
Her death was announced on Wednesday by actor Alesh Ola Sanni, a close friend and colleague, who said she passed away on Tuesday evening.
In an emotional tribute posted on Instagram, Sanni described Osoba as a dear sister and reflected on the memories they shared together, saying they had enjoyed “amazing time and good memories together”. The message has since drawn reactions from actors, filmmakers and fans across Nigeria and Ghana.
Osoba had publicly appealed for financial assistance in November 2024 to help fund another surgery as she continued treatment. The appeal highlighted the financial burden many African entertainers face while battling serious illnesses and attracted support from members of the Nollywood community.
The actress had previously undergone breast cancer surgery but continued to suffer complications linked to the illness. Her death has resonated with many Ghanaian fans who followed Nollywood productions for years, with tributes pouring in across social media from viewers remembering her performances and resilience during her illness.
