The nominees for the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) have been announced by the organisers, CharterHouse. The announcement featured the big five categories— New Artiste, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Vodafone Most Popular Song and Artiste of the Year— which are arguably the most anticipated and talked about categories by the general public.
This year’s version of the country’s biggest music awards night has been slated for May 13, 2023, and will happen at the Grand Arena of the International Conference Centre.
The Public Relations Officer of Charterhouse, Robert Klah, mentioned that prior to the awards night, there would be series of activities to engage fans to and prepare for the main show. Some of the activities he mentioned are the Nominees Jam, masterclasses, among others.
“VGMA in schools is a career day that basically takes music business and exposes to them about the opportunities. We have had several artistes who have gone to the various schools and done exceedingly well, talking to students about what it means to have a carrier within the space. This will go all the way through to the end of April. Another thing that we will be doing is the ‘Nominees Jam’, which is before the main event. In between these dates, we will have masterclasses, of which the date will be communicated soon,” he said.
