Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Freezones Authority, Mike Ocquaye Junior has won the NPP parliamentary primaries in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency.
The incumbent MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo has finally been unseated in her fourth bid to retain her candidacy for Dome-Kwabenya after polling 328 votes out of the over 1,841 delegates votes cast.
“I’m very grateful to God because I know this was the battle of the Lord. Thank you to the people of Dome-Kwabenya for voting for me resoundingly,” Mike Ocquaye said after his victory.
Mike Ocquaye Junior after attempting the contest on two occasions has now managed to secure 1,194 votes and Sheila Oppong polled 186 votes. Sarah Adwoa Safo has come under severe criticisms and have been embroiled in many controversies prior to the primaries.
Prior to the primaries, Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, Mussa Dankwah has said incumbent MP for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo has no chance in the ongoing New Patriotic Party‘s Primaries.
Mr. Dankwah in an interview with Berla Mundi on TV3 said the MP has too many controversies surrounding her and will not be able to retain her seat.
He added that Adwoa Safo will lose her seat even if additional votes are given to her.
“The poll numbers are not in her favour and the odds are against her. Mike Ocquaye Jnr is going to win the primaries this afternoon. It should be very clear on what has happened in the constituency in the past and the TikTok issues. People have not forgiven her and that’s how bad delegates think she’s done to the NPP and on that note my MP will not go back to Parliament,” Mr. Dankwah said.
