Senior Psychologist, Professor Joseph Osafo has described the New Patriotic Party parliamentary election over the weekend as a win for Ghana’s democracy.

Professor Joseph Osafo, speaking to host Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo“, lauded the leadership and aspirants as well as the delegates and supporters of the party for a successful primary on Saturday, January 27.

He also applauded the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and the Police Service for doing a great job by maintaining law and order during the election.

The New Patriotic Party elected new candidates and in some constituencies maintained their Members of Parliament during Saturday’s election held in constituencies with sitting Members of Parliament.

Some incumbent Members of Parliament lost their seats, among them was lawyer Sarah Adwoa Safo who is the MP for Dome-Kwabenya.

Other sitting MPs like Francis Asenso-Boakye, who represents Bantama constituency, retained their seats.

The party also saw new faces like the Spokesperson for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Gideon Boako jump on the party’s parliamentary ticket for this year’s general elections.

Dr. Gideon Boako defeated the sitting Member of Parliament for Tano North, Freda Prempeh.

Prof. Osafo was delighted with the outcome of the NPP election saying “what happened is a win for democracy. It’s a win for the NPP. It is a win for our security apparatuses”.
