Cape Coast, Ghana, 9th October, 2024 – In a fiery press conference that saw leaders invoking the wrath of the gods of Cape Coast, John Sam, Polling Station Secretary of Amoakofua in the Cape Coast South Constituency, and the Movement for Change leveled serious accusations against the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The gathering was not only a display of political resolve but also a spiritual one, as libations were poured to summon the gods to punish those spreading falsehoods about the Movement. “The NPP’s desperation knows no bounds,” Sam began. “They are fabricating lies to deceive Ghanaians, but the people are not easily fooled.”
The press conference was organized in response to a recent claim by a group falsely claiming to represent the Movement for Change. Sam was quick to dismiss these assertions as blatant lies. “Those who claim to represent us are nothing but impostors,” he stated emphatically. “They have never been part of the Movement since its inception, and anyone familiar with Cape Coast South politics knows this.”
In a dramatic turn, Sam and other leaders of the Movement for Change took the matter to a spiritual level. They poured libation and invoked the wrath of the gods of Oguaa, including Nana Paprata, Nana Fosu, Nana Etueyi, and Nana Tabir, to deal with those behind the lies. “We have invoked the gods to strike down anyone who falsely parades themselves as leaders of the Movement for Change,” Sam declared. “And this extends to anyone, anywhere in the country, who dares to repeat such lies.”
Sam also pointed out the irony in the NPP’s tactics, highlighting that the individual who led the false press conference didn’t even support Mr. Alan Kyerematen during the NPP primary. “How can someone who never backed Alan Kyerematen suddenly claim to be leading our movement in Cape Coast South?” Sam questioned, casting doubt on the credibility of the claims. “This is the level of dishonesty we are dealing with.”
The Movement for Change did not hold back in accusing the NPP of bribery and corruption, referencing past incidents. “The NPP tried this same trick with Adenta Kumi, claiming he defected with 60,000 people. But the truth is, only 11 people left after being bribed,” Sam revealed. He alleged that the organizer of the recent false press conference was bribed with 50,000 cedis. “This is the NPP’s playbook—lies, bribes, and more lies.”
Sam painted a grim picture of the NPP’s legacy, listing economic mismanagement, high unemployment, and rampant corruption as just a few of the party’s failings. “No staged press conference can cover up the damage the NPP has done to this country. Ghanaians are suffering under their watch, and no amount of propaganda will erase that,” he stressed.
In stark contrast, Sam emphasized the growing support for Alan Kyerematen and the Movement for Change. “The real story here is not about false defections, but about the groundswell of support for Alan Kyerematen,” he said, revealing that many NPP executives, including Mr. Kobina Effirim, the 2nd Vice Chairman of Cape Coast South, had crossed over to join the Movement for Change. “We are putting Ghana first, leaving behind a party that is destroying the country.”
Sam further exposed the hypocrisy of the NPP, highlighting the silence surrounding Mr. Frank Hutchful, also known as Oguaa Akoto, a prominent NPP financier who has now joined Kyerematen’s campaign. “Despite his prominence, we’ve been silent about it, while the NPP scrambles to spread lies and false claims,” Sam said. “How much more desperate can they get?”
The Movement for Change also credited the recent surge in support to the Caravan Tour led by Kyerematen’s running mate, Kwame Owusu Danso. “Since KOD started his Caravan Tour in the Central Region, the NPP has become restless. They can see the visible groundswell of support for the Movement,” Sam noted.
Sam boldly declared that the NPP is panicking and lacks the courage to suspend its executives who are now openly campaigning for Alan Kyerematen. “Despite their efforts, these executives have chosen the Movement for Change, recognizing it as the future of Ghana. We are tired of a party that has abandoned the people.”
In his closing remarks, Sam placed his confidence squarely in Mr. Alan Kyerematen, stating, “Alan Kyerematen’s Enterprise Economy and Great Transformational Plan are the only realistic solutions to the challenges we face as a nation. He has the vision, experience, and capability to lift Ghana out of its current crisis.”
